6 Ways to Make Money as a Creator

Are you passionate about sharing your knowledge, ideas, and skills online?

The Creator Economy has made it possible for anyone with a smartphone and an internet connection to become a content creator. It’s never been easier to get your name out there online and to start making money.

However, many people struggle to make a decent income from their content.

Imagine being able to monetize your content and turn it into a solid side or full-time income. What would that do for you? What kind of impact would that make in your life?

In this article, we'll explore six ways you can make money as a creator. The last two methods we'll discuss can even help you make big money with a small audience.

Let’s dive in!

#6 - AdSense

AdSense is a program by Google that allows content creators to monetize their YouTube videos.

To be eligible for AdSense, you need to have at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time. Once you're approved, YouTube runs ads on your videos, and you get a small percentage of the revenue if people click on the ad.

Some people earn $30,000+/mo. just from their AdSense alone, but don’t get your hope's up.

AdSense is a great way to earn a little extra income from your videos, but it's important to remember not to rely on it completely.

The amount of money you make from AdSense depends on a variety of factors, including the type of ads displayed, your viewers' location, and the number of people clicking on the ads.

#5 - Patreon

Patreon is a platform that allows content creators to receive recurring monthly revenue from their supporters. To be successful on Patreon, you need to have a large audience that is willing to support you financially.

What's important to note is that Patreon takes a percentage of your earnings, ranging from 5-12% depending on the plan you choose. There is also a payment processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 for donations over $3, and 5% + $0.10 for donations of $3 or less.

#4 - Sponsorships

Sponsorships allow content creators to get paid to promote brands they already use and love. You can start by showcasing products that you enjoy and that would be beneficial to your audience, then reach out to companies about paying you monthly or per sale to promote their products to your audience.

According to Statista.com, sponsorship spending has been steadily increasing each year and reached 62.7 billion U.S. dollars in 2017.

The larger your audience, the more money and opportunities you will have for sponsorships.

#3 - Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is similar to sponsorships in that you get paid to promote products you already use and love to earn a percentage of the sale.

Through Amazon.com you can offer links to different physical products you use, or you can find different companies that offer digital products as well.

I'd recommend focusing on promoting software products, as they typically have recurring revenue. Pay attention to the percentage you earn per sale, which is typically between 5% and 30%.

#2 - Coaching, Consulting, or Freelance

Coaching, consulting, or freelance work can be a great way to make money, even with a small audience.

You can use your content to build trust with your ideal clients, then offer private coaching packages through your website on the backend of your content.

After someone opts in for your lead magnet, send them to a page that offers a free coaching session with you like this:

From there, they book a call, you serve them powerfully, then can offer longer-term coaching packages.

#1 - Online Courses

Online courses are a highly scalable way to make money from your content.

You can charge more for an online course than other digital products because they offer more value to your audience.

For example, an eBook with the same content as an online course isn't as valuable as the course because it doesn't offer the same level of interaction and engagement.

Video content, pdf worksheets, and templates can be added to an online course, making it a more valuable product.

Same content = More value = More money you can charge

Conclusion

In conclusion, there are many ways to monetize your content and make money online. From AdSense and Patreon to sponsorships, affiliate marketing, coaching, and online courses, there's an option that can work for you, regardless of your audience size.

So, start exploring your options and find the one that works best for you and your content!
